Sick Leave is one of your most valuable benefits at FCPS. Benefits-eligible, full-time employees earn sick leave at the rate of 1.25 days of completed contract or school month. Employees can begin each school year with a maximum of 180 sick leave days.
As you know, Sick Leave pays your full salary if you must be out sick. But accumulating Sick Leave can have other advantages now and in the future. Not only can accumulated Sick Leave lower the cost of you Disability Insurance, it can also mean money in your pocket when it's time to retire. For those that participate in TRS, portions of unused accrued Sick Leave may be rolled into TRS service credit.
